Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – OCTOBER 5th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars defeated the Bethany Bison 2-0 this evening.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (2-0 PAC, 7-1-2 overall) Bethany (0-1 PAC, 2-8 overall)
  • Location: Bison Stadium at Bethany College   
 
How it happened
  • The first goal of the game was scored by Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) off of a corner kick from Sophomore Katherine Luteri (Somerset, Pa./Somerset HS).
  • Sieg scored again off a great through ball from Senior Skylar Benjamin (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville HS) in the second half.
  • The Cougars outshot the Bison 17-5.
  • Leading Chatham in shots was Sieg with six.
  • Sophomore Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison HS) chipped in four shots.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Elayna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) played the entire 90 minutes.  The strong Cougar defense would only allow two Bison shots on goal.
 
Coach's Comments
  • Head Coach Betsy Warren said "We came out a little slow today but I was really pleased with how they adjusted and executed in the second half."
 
Up next
  • The Cougars are back on the field this Saturday when they host the #4 Thomas More Saints at 1 pm.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
