Cougars Compete in PAC Tri-Match at Saint Vincent

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa – OCTOBER 25th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars traveled to Saint Vincent College for a PAC tri-match with the Bearcats and the Geneva Golden Tornadoes.
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (4-12 PAC, 8-21 overall) Saint Vincent (5-10 PAC, 12-17 overall) Geneva (13-2 PAC, 19-10 overall)
  • Location: Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.  
 
GAME 1 CHATHAM 1 SAINT VINCENT 3 (25-18, 28-26, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19)
On the court
  • As a team, Chatham posted 41 kills, 66 digs, six service aces and five blocks.  
 
At the net
  • First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittaning, Pa./Armstrong) had a season best 26 kills.
  • Lasher also earned three service aces and one block.
  • Sophomore Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) recorded three blocks for the Cougars.
 
Assisting the attack
  • First Year Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) had an incredible night totaling 33 assists.
 
Defending the court
  • First Year Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) led the team with 19 digs.
  • Lasher recorded 15 digs.
  • First Year Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) posted 11 digs.
 
GAME 2 CHATHAM 0 GENEVA 3 (25-9, 25-18, 25-22)
On the court
  • As a whole, the Cougars collected 26 kills, 46 digs and three blocks.  
 
At the net
  • Lasher tabbed 12 kills.
  • Fleiner and Brown each chipped in four kills.
  • Lasher recorded one service ace.  
 
Assisting the attack
  • First Year Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) led the team in assists with 13.
  • Sophomore Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carlyton Jr-Sr) finished with seven assists.
 
Defending the court
  • Lasher recorded with 11 digs on the backline.
  • Stevens and Brown contributed 9 and 8 digs respectively.
 
 
Up next
  • Chatham is back in action on October 27th at Westminster College at 7 pm. The last game of the season is this Saturday at home against Grove City.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
