Chatham Suffers Tough Loss at Westminster

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – OCTOBER 18th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars suffered a tough loss on the road at Westminster College this evening. The final score was 2-0.  
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (4-2 PAC, 9-3-2 overall) Westminster (4-2 PAC, 8-6-2 overall)
  • Location: Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.      
 
How it happened
  • Both teams were unable to take many shots tonight. Chatham outshot Westminster 9-5.
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) led the team in shots with three.
  • Sophomore Julie Bruening (Madison, Ohio/Madison HS) and First Year Victoria Vernail (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley HS) added two shots a piece.
  • Chatham forced seven corner kicks.
  • The Titans scored 17 minutes in and again in the 33rd minute.
 
In the goal
  • First Year Elayna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel HS) was between the crossbars for the entire 90 minutes. She recorded one save and two goals against.
  • The defense fought hard only allowing three shots on goal this game.    
 
Up next
  • The Cougars are back in action October 22nd when they travel to Waynesburg, Pa. to take on the Yellow Jackets. There are only three games left in the regular season.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
