Chatham Stuns Thiel

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa – OCTOBER 15th, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars blanked the Thiel Tomcats with a final score of 4-0. This is the most wins in a season in school history! Congrats Cougars!
 
The Basics
  • Records: Chatham (4-1 PAC, 9-2-2 overall) Thiel (1-4 PAC, 2-11-1 overall)
  • Location: Alumni Stadium at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.      
 
How it happened
  • Chatham stunned Thiel with four unanswered goals.
  • The Cougars outshot the Tomcats 23-2.
  • The first goal of the game was just four minutes in when the Tomcats scored on themselves.
  • Junior Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) netted the second goal with an assist from Senior Skylar Benjamin (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville). This is Sieg's ninth goal of the season.
  • First Year Morgan Bryant (Lorton, Va./South County) would score a goal in each half for the Cougars. The first goal was assisted by Sieg and the second by First Year Kelsey Calamaro (Davie, Fla./The Sagemont School). These were Bryant's first goals of the season!
  • Sieg led the Cougars in shots with five.
  • Benjamin and Sophomore Anne Radzanowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) were close behind with four shots a piece.
  • First Year Tina Lett (Fredricksburg, Va./Cortland) finished with three shots.
 
In the goal
  • Sophomore Emmory Tardivo (Isabella, Pa./Brownsville Area) was in goal for the shutout. She recorded one save.
  • The defense played an incredible game as they only allowed for two shots the entire 90 minutes.   
 
Coach's Comments
  • Head Coach Betsy Warren said "I was happy to see the team come out and play a more composed game today."

Up next
  • The Cougars are back on the field October 18th when they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to take on the Westminster Titans. The Titans are currently 3-2 in the PAC.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
