Cougars Compete In Conference Tri-Match at Grove City

| Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa – October 1^st, 2016 – The Chatham Cougars traveled to Grove City, Pa. to participate in a conference tri-match between the Grove City Wolverines and the Washington and Jefferson Presidents.

The Basics

Records: Chatham (2-5 PAC, 5-15 overall) Grove City (3-4 PAC, 6-13 overall) Washington & Jefferson (7-2 PAC, 13-4 overall)

GAME 1: Chatham 1 Grove City 3 (15-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-18)

On the court

Chatham took the first set 25-15 but Grove City came back to win the next three.
The Cougars recorded 34 kills, 57 digs and four blocks.

At the net

Leading the Cougars in kills was First Year Justyne Lasher (Kittaning, Pa./Armstrong) with 20.
First Year Belen Brown (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley HS) and Sophomore Katelyn Gonos (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt HS) each chipped in four kills.
Lasher led Chatham in blocks as well totaling four.
Sophomore Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour HS), First Year Delaney Gordon (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell HS), and Junior Iman Morgan (Sharon, Pa./Sharon HS) each added one block.

Assisting the attack

First Year Mckenzie Bates (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster HS) led the Cougars in assists with 14.
Sophomore Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carlynton Jr-Sr HS) added 10 assists.

Defending the court

Lasher led the team in digs with 16.
Brown recorded 11 digs.
First Year Sydney Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway HS) posted 10 digs.

GAME 2: Chatham 0 W&J 3 (25-10, 25-21, 25-17)

On the court

The Cougars posted 26 kills and 57 digs.

At the net

Lasher had a team high 15 kills. Lasher also earned two service aces.
Gonos recorded five kills.
Brown added three kills.
Lasher and Fleiner both earned a block.

Assisting the attack

Bates grabbed 13 assists.
Brozenick contributed nine assists.

Defending the court

Stevens led the team with 13 digs.
Bates and Brown each recorded 11 digs.

The Cougars are back on the court on October 8^th when they host a conference tri-match with the Thiel Tomcats and the Saint Vincent Bearcats.
