Cougars Conquer Golden Tornadoes, 75-71

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - JANUARY 9th, 2016 -- The Chatham Men's Basketball team conquered the Geneva Golden Tornadoes 75-71 for their second win in program history. Chatham is now 2-11 overall and 2-4 in the PAC. This win marks the very first home win in program history for the Cougars.

Chatham pulled ahead early in the first half and didn't lose momentum, keeping the lead over Geneva for the rest of the game. At halftime, the Cougars led 40-28. Chatham was red hot in the first half shooting 58% from the paint. Chatham continued their hot shooting in the seconf 20 minutes of play, shooting 68% from beyond the arc. The Cougars as a team shot 83% from the free throw line tonight, with crucial free throws made down the stretch to secure the win.

Four of the Cougar starters finished the game with double digits. First Year Nasir Alexander (Kissimmee, Fla. / Osceola) led the team in scoring for the second straight game finishing with 20 points. Sophomore Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. First Year Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) added 13 points, and First Year Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) chipped in 11, and controlled the overall tempo for the Cougars style of play tonight. Bomar also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

This is the second win for Chatham Men's Basketball in program history, as well as Head Coach Andrew Garcia's second career win.

The Cougars are back in action Wednesday, January 13th when they travel to Grove City to take on the Grove City College Wolverines. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
