Cougars Fall In Nail Biter; Lose 90-82 In Overtime To Tomcats

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - JANUARY 6th, 2015 -- The Chatham University Men's Basketball team hosted the Tomcats from Thiel College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game tonight in the Athletics & Fitness Center on campus. The Cougars suffered their 11th loss of the season to the Tomcats from Thiel in overtime by a final score of 90-84.

The Chatham University Men's Basketball team lost in a tough one tonight to the Tomcats from Thiel. The Cougars trailed 45-38 at the half, but managed to outscore the Tomcats 37-30 in the second half to force the game into overtime. The Cougars would only manage to score 9 points in the 5 minute overtime period, and would give the Tomcats their 5th win overall this season, and 3rd in the conference.

The Cougars would have all five starters finish the game in double figures. First Year Guard Nasir Alexander (Kissimmee, Fla. / Osceola) led the Cougars in scoring tonight finishing with a season high 24 points, 12 coming from beyond the arc. First Year Guards Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) and Isaiah Brown (Scott, Ark. / North Pulaski) would each add in 13 points a piece. Sophomore Forward Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) finished the game with 12 points and 9 rebounds, and First Year Forward Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) would chip in 10 points respectively.

Chatham forced the Tomcats to turn the ball over 27 times tonight, and would score 29 points off of them. The game was tied 16 times tonight, and the lead would change a total of 10 times. Chatham is now 1-11 overall, and 1-4 in the PAC, while the Tomcats are 5-7 overall, and 3-2 in the PAC.

The Cougars will return to action on Saturday, January 9th, when they host the Golden Tornadoes from Geneva College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at 7:00 PM.
