McClain Hits 1000 Points As Cougars Top Bearcats; 76-74

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - JANUARY 27th, 2016 -- The Chatham University Women's Basketball team hosted the Saint Vincent Bearcats today in a conference game. The Cougars defeated the Bearcats 76-74. The Women are now 8-10 overall and 4-7 in the PAC.

Senior Rachel McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) led the Cougars in scoring with 19 points. This was a big night for McClain as she scored her 1000th point as a Chatham Cougar. She is only the second Cougar to do so in school history. McClain is also now second in career points for the Chatham. McClain went 6-6 from the free throw line. She had 3 steals and 2 assists as well.

Three other starters scored double figures in tonight's matchup. First Year Ashley McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) finished with 18 points and 4 steals. First Year Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Serra Catholic) scored 16 points (7-9 FG) with 3 assists and 2 steals. Sophomore Megan Sieg
(Pittsburgh, Pa. / Serra Catholic) chipped in 14 points with 3 assists. Junior Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) led the team in rebounds with 10 total (4 offensive, 6 defensive).  

Chatham led the Bearcats for the majority of the game. At half time, the score was 35-29. The Cougars played tough forcing 23 turnovers for 26 points. The largest lead came in the 3rd period when the Cougars were up by 13.

The Cougars are back on the court Saturday January 29th when they host the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College at 1 pm.
