Cougars Drop Game 1 Vs. Elmira; 4-1

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa - JANUARY 22nd, 2016 -- The Chatham University Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the Soaring Eagles from Elmira College this evening in the first of two games that will be played this weekend. The Cougars would take an early first period lead, however Elmira would win the contest tonight 4-1 and take game 1 of the weekend doubleheader.

Chatham (6-8-1, 2-6-1) would score first tonight when a goal was scored by First Year Forward Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine) at the 17:42 mark of the first period. The goal was assisted by Senior Forward Erika Bronk (Fairport, N.Y. / Rochester Edge) and Sophomore Defensemen Kasandra Petersen (Fairbault, Minn. / Minnesota Blades).

The Soaring Eagles would find the back of the net twice though in the next two periods, putting the Cougars out of reach. Chatham's Goaltender Sophomore Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, ONT / Thunder Bay Queens) would face 53 shots tonight, and save 49 of them.

Chatham looks to even the score tomorrow, when they host the Soaring Eagles in the second game of this weekend's doubleheader. The puck drops at 3:00 PM at the Alpha Ice Rink in Harmarville.
