The City Game: Chatham Versus Carlow; Cougars Suffer First Loss Of Season

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - SEPTEMBER 23, 2015- The Chatham University Women's Soccer team faced off against city rival Carlow University Celtics (3-2) tonight at Highmark Stadium. Highmark Stadium is home to the Pittsburgh Professional Men's Soccer team the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Chatham was looking to extend their winning streak to six, however the Celtics found a way to defeat the Cougars tonight by a score of 4-1, giving Chatham their first loss of the season.

Chatham would maintain control of the ball throughout the first half, and would outshoot Carlow 8-3. Even though Carlow only put 3 shots on goal, two would find the back of the net with both goals coming from Sophomore Forward Breann Wood (Chicora, PA/Karns City). After the first 45 minutes played, Carlow would lead 2-0.

The second half would start very similar to the first, with Chatham controlling the pace right away. Chatham fired 4 shots on goal early in the second half, looking to find the back of the net. At the 52:00 minute of the game, Cougar Forward Skylar Benjamin (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) would send a terrific cross towards the goal which would find Sophomore Outside Mid-Fielder Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, PA/Serra Catholic) who burried the ball in the back of the net. Chatham would continue their attack to find an equalizier, but it would be First Year Mid-Fielder Kristina Wallace (Jeannette, PA/Penn Trafford) from Carlow who would put the Celtics back up by two with her goal in the 65th minute. Just 9 minutes later, Sophomore Forward Breann Wood put the game out of reach when she would score her third goal of the game, making the score 4-1 in Carlow's favor.

Chatham outshot the Celtics 20-9 for the game, but Carlow's Goalkeeper Cayla Imbarlina (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was outstanding in goal, earning herself a double digit saves night with 10.

Chatham will be back in action on Monday, September 28th when they host the Shock from Washington Adventist University (0-5-1) at 4:00 P.M. on Varsity Field.
