Chatham First Year's Look Good in Season Opener

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - SEPTEMBER 2, 2015 - The Chatham Cougars Women's Volleyball team began their 2015-2016 season last night against the Carlow University Celtics. The Cougars' recruiting this past summer proved to be one stacked with talent, as the majority of the First Year players contributed in a tough 0-3 loss.

Chatham's Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour High School) and Katelyn Gonos (Kent, OH/Theodore Roosevelt High School) both First Years, recorded seven of Chatham's nine kills; Fleiner with 4 and Gonos with 3. Outside Hitter Heather McIntyre's (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run High School) two kills rounded out the scoring for the Cougars last night.

Sophomore Iman Morgan (Sharon, PA/Sharon High School) picked up right where she left off last season, defending the net with three huge blocks. The Cougars recorded 34 digs last night, 20 of which were defended by First Year's Abbey Little (Slippery Rock, PA/ Slippery Rock), Maggie Fleiner, and Emily Brozenick
(Pittsburgh, PA/Carlynton Jr.-Sr. High School); Little with nine, Fleiner with six, and Brozenick with five. Setter Emily Brozenick contributed all eight of the Cougars' assists.

The Cougars look to bounce back and keep up their aggressive play as they prepare to compete in the La Roche College Tournament this Friday, September 4th and Saturday, September 5th.
