Chatham Falls Twice Versus Geneva and Washington & Jefferson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA - SEPTEMBER 17, 2015- The Chatham University Women's Volleyball team traveled to Washington & Jefferson College this evening to compete in a Tri-Match versus the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College and the host President's of Washington & Jefferson College. The Cougars dropped both President Athletic Conference matches down in Washington tonight. 

Chatham (1-11, 0-5) would lose to Geneva (11-1, 3-0) in 3 straight sets by scores of 10-25, 15-25, 16-25 in their first match of the night. First Year player Katelyn Gonos (Kent, OH/Theodore Roosevelt) would lead the Cougars on offense with 4 kills during the match. Fellow First Year teammate Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, PA/Carlynton) was stellar on both sides of the ball totaling 11 assists, and 14 digs for the match.

The Cougars (1-11, 0-5) would play the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson (4-5, 2-2) in the final match of the night. Chatham battled throughout every set, but would lose in 3 consecutive sets by scores of 19-25, 12-25, and 19-25. The Cougars were well balanced throughout the match offensively with First Year player Katelyn Gonos leading the way once again with 6 kills. Sophomore Iman Morgan (Sharon, PA/Sharon) and First Year player Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) would each add 4 kills to help spark the Cougars on offense. First Year player Emily Brozenick would pick up where she left off in the first match with totaling 15 assists against the Presidents. The Cougars would be locked in defensively with First Year Defensive Specialist Abbey Little (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) leading the way with 13 digs. Respectively, Maggie Fleiner would add 12 digs, and Senior Heathir McIntyre (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) would have 9 digs of her own.

The Cougars will travel out of conference as they take on the Lions from Penn State Altoona on Monday, September 21st at 7:00 PM.
