Chatham' Bruening Scores Game Winner in OT Thriller

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - SEPTEMBER 12TH - The Cougars Women's Soccer team won their third game in a row yesterday afternoon, defeating the Hilbert College Hawks in Overtime 1-0. The Hawks proved to be a very even match up for the Cougars, as both defenses thwarted each other's offensive play. First Year Forward Julie Bruening (Madison, OH/Madison High School) propelled the Cougars to victory with the game-winning goal in OT.

The Cougars play over the past three games has displayed just how formidable of a force they can be. Led by First Year Julie Bruening's award-winning play over the past week, the Cougars' Forward scored the winning goal in the 96th minute of OT, notching her 8th goal on the year. Sophomore Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, PA/Serra Catholic High School) set up Bruening in front of the net for the goal, ending a long and rainy game against the Hawks.

The Cougars out shot the Hawks 20-11 and began stepping up the intensity during the second half of the game, sending 10 shots towards net. Goalkeeper Emmory Tardivo (Isabella, PA/Brownsville Area High School) faced 5 shots in the first half and 6 in the second, making all the necessry stops to give the Cougars the win.

This aggressive and focused mentality for the Cougars is certain to continue to make them a difficult match-up for upcoming oppopents as they continue to learn from each other and build through the coming match's. Head Coach Betsy Warren's Cougars take on La Roche College this upcoming Tuesday, September 15th at La Roche's campus.
