Cougars Lose Close Contest To Grove City

Box Score Grove City, PA - (2/11/15) - The Chatham Women's Basketball traveled to Grove City for a PAC road game. 

The Cougars would battle back from a 12 point first half deficit to head into halftime down by only six. Senior Rachel McClain (Hollidaysburg, PA) paced Chatham, scoring ten of her total 13 points in the first half.

Three other Cougars would contribute with double figure points, as first year guard Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, PA) and senior forward Emily Schmidt (Eighty Four, PA) would score ten points each. Chatham also got a huge boost off the bench from sophomore guard Dana Eastman (Murraysville, PA) who scored 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Chatham would cut the lead to as little as four points in the second half, but Grove City was able to pull away and seal the victory 61-53.

The Cougars will take the court again on Saturday, February 14th when they host Geneva College. Before the game, Chatham's senior basketball players Kayla Saylor (Pittsburgh, PA/Northgate High School), Becky Rowe (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk High School), and Emily Schmidt (Eighty Four, PA/Ringgold High School) will be honored, and the 145th anniversary of the opening of Chatham University will be celebrated.

Women's sports at Chatham include basketball, cross country, ice hockey, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track & field, and volleyball. Chatham will add six new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field, and volleyball.
