Women's Basketball Drops Two In Daytona

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - DECEMBER 22, 2015 -- The Chatham University Women's Basketball team participated in the Daytona Beach Shootout on December 20th & December 21st. The Cougars faced Western Connecticut on Sunday, December 20th and Washington & Lee on Monday, December 21st.

The Chatham Univeristy Women's Basketball team lost their first game of the Daytona Beach Shootout to Western Connecticut by a score of 83-63. After 3 quarters of play the Cougars only trailed by 9 points, but would be outscored in the 4th quarter 28-17. First Year Guar Katelyn Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Serra Catholic) led the way for the Cougars on offense scoring her season-high of 15 points, and going 2-2 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Guard Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Serra Catholic) contributed 11 points in the game, and would also add in 5 steals. First Year Forward Maggie Soeder (Shaler, Pa. / Shaler) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.

On the second day of the Daytona Beach Shootut, the Cougars took on the Generals from Washington & Lee. At the half, Washington & Lee led 35-34. The Generals though would outscore the Cougars in the second half by a score of 39-16, giving them a 74-50 victory. Junior Forward Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) posted her third double-double of the season. Hinkle scored 16 points, and added 10 rebounds on the day. First Year Guard Katelyn Sieg continued her solid play, adding in 9 points and 9 rebounds.

The Chatham University Women's Basketball team is now 4-5 overall, and 1-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Cougars return to action on Thursday, December 31st when they host the Barons from Franciscan University at 1:00 p.m., in the Athletics & Fitness Center.
