Chatham opened the scoring with 11:50 left in the second period when sophomore forward Marissa Janiga scored her first goal of the 2015-16 campaign on a pass from first year defenseman Jillian Rowland for her first career point. Junior forward Jenny Jones capped off the evening with her second goal of the season when she was assisted by junior forward McKenzie Haskins and senior forward Katrina Hawkins.
Petersen was superb in net stopping 16 of 17 shots faced to pick up her first career win in just her second career start between the pipes. Petersen did so thanks to stellar defensive play in front of her by a unit that forced Becker's power play to go 0-6 on the evening.
The Cougars finish the series against Becker tomorrow afternoon with puck drop changing from 12:30 to 12:50.
