Cougars Fall To Buffalo State, 4-1

Box Score BUFFALO, NY- November 21, 2015 - Buffalo State scored quickly in the first period and Chatham would respond, but the Cougars were unable to hold back the Bengals and fell in game two of the series 4-1.

After Nikki Kirchberger opened the scoring in the contest for the Bengals, Chatham tacked on a goal of its own when junior forward Jenny Jones (Kernersville, N.C. / Anaheim Lady Ducks) found the back of the net of a pass from junior defenseman Kaitlyn Perrins (Calgary, ALB / JWHL Notre Dame Hounds) to tie the game 1-1.

Buffalo State added another first period goal and two second period goals in route to the victory.

Sophomore defenseman Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn. / Minnesota Blades) got the start in net for the first time in her career and did a superb job much like sophomore forward Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y. / Buffalo Stars) did in game one, stopping 34 of 38 shots by the Bengals.

After the weekend, Chatham now sits 0-4 overall and 0-4 in ECAC West play.

The Cougars will take to the road again next weekend to open their non-conference schedule against the Becker College Ice Hawks in Marlborough, Mass. Game one of the two game series will take place Saturday November 28 at 7:50 pm.
