Cougars Edge Lions; Improve to 1-1 on Season

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - NOVEMBER 19, 2015 - The Chatham University Women's Basketball team traveled to Penn State Altoona tonight to take on the Lady Lions in a non-conference game. The Cougars came away with a great win, defeating the Lions 72-68.

Junior forward Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, Pa / Thomas Jefferson) led the way for the Cougars tonight posting 15 points and 9 rebounds in just 15 minutes of play. First Year point guard Ashley McClain (Hollidaysburg, Pa / Hollidaysburg) also finished the night in double figures scoring 14 points. Sophomore guard Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa / Serra Catholic) filled up the stat line tonight finishing with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.

With just under five minutes left in the game, both teams found themselves tied at 61. Over the next three minutes both teams played evenly, keeping the game tied at 67-67. Chatham would take the lead with just under two minutes to play, with an Ashley McClain jumper. Penn State Altoona would not be able to respond or capitalize on their opportunities in the last two minutes of play, and Chatham would hold on for the win.

The Chatham University Women's Basketball team will be back on the court this Saturday, November 21st, as they play host to the visiting Hawks from Hilbert College at 2:00 p.m., in the Athletics & Fitness Center.
