Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA - OCTOBER 8, 2015 - The Cougars faced off against Thomas More College and Waynesburg University today in a double-header at the Athletics and Fitness Center. The Cougars lost 0-3 against both Thomas More and Waynesburg, dropping their record to 1-20 on the season.
The Cougars Women's Volleyball team faced off in a PAC conference double-header today against Thomas More College and Waynesburg University. Chatham lost 0-3 to Thomas More (7-25, 15-25, 9-25). The Cougars struggled offensively, accumulating 7 kills as a team, but their team communication and ball control showed real improvement throughout the match. Senior Heathir McIntyre (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run High School) led the team defensively with 8 digs and aservice ace.
First Year Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour High School) played aggressively, finishing the match with 2 kills, 2 blocks, and 6 digs. Sophomore Iman Morgan (Sharon, PA/Sharon High School) and First Year Katelyn Gonos (Kent, OH/Theodore Roosevelt High School) finished the game with 2 blocks a piece. Morgan and Gonos helped apply pressure around the net, resulting in strong offensive runs and good possessions for the Cougars.
The Cougars second game against Waynesburg University resulted in a 0-3 loss (21-25, 12-25, 11-25). Head Coach Marc Eberle's Cougars players performed better offensively, finishing the game with 17 kills and 15 assists. Heathir McIntyre (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run High School) and Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour High School) led the Cougars with 5 kills a piece. McIntyre finished with 9 digs on the night.
First year Abby Little (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock Area High School) led the Cougars defensively with 13 digs. Sophomore Iman Morgan (Sharon, PA/Sharon High School) played aggressively on defense and finished the game with 3 blocks. First Year Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, PA/Carlynton Jr.-Sr. High School) had a solid all-around game and finished with 14 assists and 10 digs.
The Cougars face off against Bethany College in West Virginia this Saturday (October 10th).
