Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA - OCTOBER 21, 2015 - On Wednesday evening, the Chatham University Women's Volleyball team traveled to Grove City College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead against the Wolverines by capturing the first set 25-20, but would then drop the next three consecutive sets (9-25, 9-25, 5-25) losing the match.
First Year Outside Hitter Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) led the way for the Cougars on offense posting 7 kills and 1 service ace. Fleiner received contributions from fellow First Year Right Side Hitter Katelyn Gonos (Kent, OH/Theodore Roosevelt) and Senior Outside Hitter Heathir McIntyre (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) each adding 5 kills for the match. First Year Setter Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, PA/Carlynton) played a key role on the offensive side of the net finishing the match with 15 assists. Defensively, First Year libero Abbey Little (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) and Senior Outside Hitter Heathir McIntyre each registered double-figure digs, with 12 and 10 respectively. Along the front line, Sophomore Middle Hitter Iman Morgan (Sharon, PA/Sharon) was credited with 2 blocks.
With this loss tonight, Chatham currently sits at 1-27 overall, with a 0-17 mark in conference play. The Cougars have just 3 matches left on the season, and look to pick up a win on Saturday, as they host the Bison from Bethany College at 6:00 p.m. in the Athletics & Fitness Center.
