Cougars Fall Twice In Tri-Match With Bearcats and Titans

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA - OCTOBER 1, 2015- The Chatham University Women's Volleyball team traveled to St. Vincent College this evening to compete in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match with the Westminster Titans and the host Bearcats of St. Vincent College. The Cougars dropped both of their contests with 3-0 final scores.

Chatham (1-15, 0-8) opened the afternoon with a 25-10, 25-14, and 25-9 loss to St. Vincent (6-10, 1-4). First Year Outside Hitter Maggie Fleiner (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) led the way for the Cougars throughout the match. Fleiner contributed in a variety of ways adding 3 kills, 1 service ace, 1 block, and 8 digs. Katelyn Gonos (Kent, OH/Theodore Roosevelt) continued her solid play with 4 kills and 1 service ace. First Year Defensive Specialist Abbey Little (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) was solid on the defensive side of the net digging out 16 of the Bearcat attacks.

The Cougars (1-16, 0-9) would then face the Titans from Westminster College (6-15, 4-3) in their second match of the double header. Westminster would defeat the Cougars in 3 consecutive sets by scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-16. Senior Outside Hitter Heathir McIntyre (Asburn, VA/Broad Run) led the Cougars on offense with a team high 9 kills. First Year Setter Emily Brozenick (Pittsburgh, PA/Carlynton) was key for the Cougars offensive attack, totaling 19 assists for the match.

Chatham will travel to Franciscan University (6-11) on Saturday, October 3rd, to compete in a non-conference match with the Barons.
