Cougars Battle Thiel on the Road

Box Score Greenville, PA - (01/07/15) - The Chatham University Women's Basketball team traveled to Thiel College on Wednesday night to battle the Tomcats in a PAC contest. The Cougars would climb out of a 14 point first half hole to take a one-point lead at halftime. Ultimately, Chatham would lose in a hard fought game 80-74.

Junior Rachel McClain (Holidaysburg, PA) would lead the way for Chatham with 16 points and three steals. Four other Cougars finshed with double-figure points on the night. Senior guard Becky Rowe (Beaver Falls, PA) scored 14 points, while sophomores Jesse Hinkle (Jefferson Hills, PA) and Nicky Ingel (Noth Huntington, PA) added 11 and 10 points respectively. Junior guard Anna Shashura (Deemston, PA) also contributed with a 12 point effort.

The Cougars overcame a 14-2 run bythe Tomcats to open the second half when Rowe's jumper at the 12 minute mark tied the game at 55. Thiel used a strong final 10 minutes to close out the game, despite Chatham cutting the lead to just three points in the final minute.

Chatham will return to the court on Saturday, January 10th when they travel to Geneva College to play at 1 PM.

Chatham will add six new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field, and volleyball.
