Chatham loses heartbreaker against Stevenson

Box Score Boston, Mass. – (1/02/2015) – The Chatham University hockey team played tough, but ended a two game win streak against the Mustangs of Stevenson University this afternoon, losing 4-3 in regulation, in the first game of the Codfish Bowl.
 
Stevenson would score first, but the Cougars responded quickly scoring twice in the first period. First year forward Cassidy Colhoun (Kincordine, ON) found the net (13:30) assisted by sophomore forward Jenny Jones. This was Jones fourth assist this season, and Colhoun's third goal.
 
Jones followed up her assist by scoring next (19:54), assisted by junior forward Katrina Hawkins and sophomore defender Kaitlyn Perrins. Jones leads the Cougars with nine points. In the second period Hawkins would score unassisted (14:22) keeping the Cougar lead at 3-2 heading into the third period.
 
Stevenson scored two unanswered goals in the third period giving the Mustangs a 4-3 lead at the end of regulation. Senior goaltender Megan Buchanan (Stittsville, Ont.) gave up four goals after facing 23 shots in the game.
 
Chatham will be back in action when they play SUNY Canton on Saturday January 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. to wrap up the Codfish Bowl.
