Soccer Battles Hilbert in New York

Box Score Hamburg, NY – The Chatham University women's soccer team travelled to Hilbert College on Saturday to play in a non-conference match. The Cougars would fall to the Hawks in a hard fought contest by a count of 4-2.

Hilbert struck first in the 22nd minute on a goal from sophomore Jennifer Colvin. Chatham would get even two minutes later with their first goal of the season off the toe of first year forward Megan Sieg. Cougar goalkeeper Liz Sawyer would step up with seven saves as the first half ended in a 1-1 tie.

Sawyer would continue to perform well for the Cougars as the score remained in a deadlock for 30 minutes in the second half. Three goals would be scored in less than two minutes late in the second period. Hilbert struck with two quick goals to take the lead, only to be answered by Chatham when Sieg found the back of the net for her second goal of the game. The Hawks would tack on a 4th goal late in the game to seal the victory at 4-2.

The Cougars will be back in action when they travel to square off with the Bobcats of Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday, September 9th.
