Cougars Fall To La Roche

Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. - (9/24/2014) –  The Chatham University soccer team (2-6) fell to La Roche College (3-1-2) tonight under the lights of Carnegie Mellon University's Oakland campus. Coming off two exciting overtime games, the Cougars brought the focus and intensity they have in past games and fought hard until the end.

Senior goalkeeper Liz Sawyer (Saco, Me.) made eight saves on ten shots against La Roche. Before tonight's game Sawyer was ranked ninth in the nation for Division III in saves. The Red Hawks scored both goals in the first period, (5:38) and (17:04) with the second being a penalty kick.

First year midfielder Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a great opportunity to score off a corner kick from senior midfielder Sarah Ellis (Lawrence, Pa.), but her shot fell right to the goal keeper after being deflected. The Cougars kept the Red Hawks scoreless in the second period, getting great pushes into the La Roche end of the field, and creating solid scoring opportunites.

Chatham will visit Penn State – Greater Allegheny next on Tuesday September 30 at 3:00 p.m.
