Chatham Sweeps William Smith

Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. – (12/07/2014) – The Chatham University hockey team faced ECAC-West opponent William Smith College for the second straight day this afternoon. The Cougars would capture the contest 3-0, earning the home sweep of the Herons and bolstering their record to 4-5 on the year.
 
Chatham started off hot, with all three goals coming in the first period. Sophomore forward Erika Martin (Fairbanks, AK) started the scoring for the Cougars at 8:15. Sophomore forward Jenny Jones (Kemersville, NC) gave Chatham a two goal lead with her backhand at 14:26.

The Cougars continued to pour it on, as First Year forward 
Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, NY) scored just one minute after Jones. Junior forward Erika Bronk (Fairport, NY) assisted on two of the goals, as the Cougars outshot the Herons 20-4 in the firs period. 
 
Senior goaltender Megan Buchanan (Stittsville, Ont.) posted her second straight shutout after facing 24 shots in the game. Buchanan was able to turn away 20 shots combined in the 2nd and 3rd periods to preserve the early three goal lead.
 
Chatham will be back in action after the holiday break when they travel to Boston to partcipate in the Codfish Bowl on January 2nd and 3rd 2015.
