Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. – (10/15/2014) – the Chatham University soccer team played host to PAC rival Washington & Jefferson on an overcast afternoon at Varsity Field today. The early play was highlighted by passing and defense, as both teams found their legs. Chatham would lose in regulation 4-2.
By the end of the first half the sun had come out, and Washington & Jefferson led the Cougars 3-0. The second half started with a great scoring opportunity for the Cougars, who controlled the ball with more efficiency as the game progressed.
Senior goalkeeper
Liz Sawyer (Saco, Me.) made five saves on nine shots. The Washington and Jefferson offense continued aggressive presses against Sawyer throughout the game. Chatham fended off numerous attacks by the Presidents with tough defense in support of Sawyer.
Junior midfielder
Sarah Jugovic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored both of the Cougar goals at (69:44) and (86:12). First year forward
Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa.) assisted Jugovic on her first goal, while the second goal was unassisted.
Cougars with shots on goal tonight included Sieg with three, while sophomore forward
Skylar Benjamin (Strongsville, Oh.) and sophomore defender
Maryann Fix (McLean, Va.) each earned one.
Chatham will visit Bethany College on Saturday October 18th at 1:00 p.m.
