Adrian Downs Chatham 9-2

Box Score ADRIAN, MI – Erika Martin scored two power play goals for Chatham, but the Cougars fell 9-2 to Adrian College on Tuesday in non-conference ice hockey action.  Chatham, playing their first game since December 8, 2013, falls to 2-7-2 overall.  Adrian moves to 10-3 overall.
 
Martin got the Cougars on the board at the 5:16 mark of the second period, scoring off assists from Brianna Rice and Katrina Hawkins.  Martin found the back of the net again just over nine minutes later to make the score 6-2.  Rice and Erika Bronk recorded assists on that goal.
 
Martin led Chatham with five shots, while Rice tallied four and Casey Morfeld had three.  Megan Buchanan got the start in net and made 24 saves and allowed seven Adrian goals.  Kaitlynn Smith relieved Buchanan late in the second period and made six saves while surrendering two goals.
 
Adrian out-shot Chatham 39-18 for the game.
 
Chatham returns to action this weekend, January 10-11, as they travel to SUNY Canton.
