PITTSBURGH, PA- The Chatham University Soccer team fell by a score of 2-0 to La Roche College on Saturday afternoon at Chatham's Varsity Field. Coming off a 1-0 win against Westmoreland County, the Cougars could not capitalize against the (1-1) Red Hawks' defense. Nonetheless, the Cougars walked off the field with confidence and a sense of overall accomplishment.
“With each game we see improvements throughout the group. Our players are starting to find their roles within the team,” said head Coach
Betsy Warren. “I was really pleased with our performance today. Despite the score line, we can walk away knowing we had a successful match. I think it says a lot about a team that works together as a group to achieve a common goal, and that's exactly what we have been doing.”
Chatham's
Sarah Ellis (So., Lawrence, PA/Canon McMillan) attempted three total shots and one on goal for the Cougars. Goal Keeper
Liz Sawyer (So., Saco, ME/Thornton) added 11 more saves to the season.
The (1-2) Cougars will be back again on their home field Wednesday, September 12 against Penn State-Beaver. Kick off will be at 4:00 pm.
