Box Score Box Score

PITTSBURGH, PA – Waynesburg University out-shot Chatham University 32-2, but escaped with just a 2-0 victory on Saturday, thanks to 19 saves by CU goal keeper Liz Sawyer (So., Saco, ME/Thornton Academy). Waynesburg improves to 5-5 overall (1-0 PAC) while Chatham falls to 2-5 overall (0-1 PAC).

“I thought we put together a great team effort today, heading into our first conference game of the season,” said Head Coach Betsy Warren. “The first conference game is always a measuring stick for how we are going to compete throughout the season. I was very impressed with the effort I saw, and there is constant improvement with each game.”

Sophomore Sarah Ellis (Lawrence, PA/Canon-McMillan) registered the Cougars' only two shots on the day. Waynesburg's Emily Mullady scored in the 13th minute to put the Yellow Jackets on the board early. In the 35th minute, Karleigh Murphy made it 2-0 with a header off a Susie Godwin pass.

Chatham will return to action on Tuesday, October 2, when they host PAC foe Bethany College at 4:00pm.
