Muskingum Soccer Beats Chatham 2-0

NEW CONCORD, OH- The Chatham Soccer team fell 2-0 to Muskingum University (3-4) on Saturday afternoon. Muskingum outshot the Cougars 35-8. Chatham dropped to 2-3 overall for the season.

“Despite the score line, the team played some of their best attacking soccer today,” said Head Coach Betsy Warren. “We had some great opportunities to finish and just didn't capitalize.”

The Muskies got on the board first in the 20th minute of play with a goal by Carissa Myler. Muskingum's Hailey Dickey finished the day's scoring in the 56th minute of play.

For the Cougars, Sydney McFarland (Fy., Frostburg, MD/Northern Garrett) took five shots, two on goal. Sarah Ellis (So., Lawrence, PA/Canon McMillan) took one shot while Claire Geraghty (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) and Lindsey Matusak (Jr., Latrobe, PA/Derry Area) took one shot each, both on goal. Goal Keeper Liz Sawyer (So., Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) recorded 12 more saves for the season.

The Cougars will be back again on their home field Thursday, September 20 against Mount Aloysius College. Kick off will be at 4:00 pm.
