PITTSBURGH, PA – The Chatham University volleyball team fell to 0-3 (0-3 PAC) on the short season with a pair of losses on Tuesday night. In the opener, Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Geneva College (10-1, 3-0 PAC) defeated the Cougars in straight sets, 25-11, 25-15, 25-21.
For the Cougars,
Angelina Liberi (Jr., Mt. Lebanon, PA/Mt. Lebanon) had a team-high eight kills, while
Mareija Bibbs (Jr., Chesapeake, VA/Peninsula Catholic) added six digs and three service aces.
Erin Smith (So., Allison Park, PA/Shaler) recorded a team-high 20 digs in the match and
Julianne Speeney (Sr., Connellsville, PA/Geibel Catholic) had 13 assists.
In the nightcap, Washington & Jefferson College (5-2, 1-1 PAC) won 3-0 by scores of 25-10, 25-19, 25-20. Bibbs tallied four kills in the match, while Smith, Liberi, and
Ally Ratliff (Sr., Johnstown, PA/Ferndale Area) each added three. Speeney once again had 13 assists, and Ratliff recorded 13 digs.
“We showed tonight that in each match, we are getting better,” said Head Coach
Marc Eberle. “Our upperclassmen are working hard and setting a great example for our younger players.”
Chatham returns to action this Thursday, September 13, when they host Grove City College. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
