PITTSBURGH, PA- Four different players scored a goal as the Chatham University Ice Hockey team earned their third win of the season, defeating California (PA) University 5-0 on Saturday night. The Cougars outshot the Vulcans 48-14 as goaltender
Kaitlynn Smith (Jr., Hamden, CT/Hamden) captured her first career shutout. Chatham improves to 3-8-0 on the season, while the Vulcans fall to 6-2-0.
Morgan Becer (Jr., Latrobe, PA/Team Pittsburgh) got the Cougars on the board first early in the second period with a goal assisted by
Maike Blakely (Jr., Kearney, NE/Williston Northampton) .
Katrina Hawkins (Fy., Powell River, BC/North Island Extreme ) led the Cougars with two goals both assisted by
Katherine Perrine (Fy., Menominee, MI/Wyoming Seminary) .
Marie Soukup (FY, Lake Bluff, IL/Team Illinois U19) recorded one goal assisted by Hawkins and
Clare Zupan (So., Lenexa, KS/Rocky Mountain Lynx) . Blakely finished the game in scoring with her first career goal late in the third period.
Next up, Chatham is on the road against Penn State University on Friday, January 4. The Cougars take the ice at 7:00 pm.
