Morgan Becer (Jr., Latrobe, PA/Team Pittsburgh) put Chatham on the board first with a goal at the 12:11 mark of the first period, but the visiting Bengals of Buffalo State College scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 defeat of Chatham on Saturday. Chatham falls to 1-4-0 overall (0-3-0 ECAC-West), while Buffalo State improves to 2-3-0 overall (1-2-0 ECAC-West).
Becer was assisted on her goal by
Erika Bronk (FY, Fairport, NY/Rochester Edge) and
Gina Abrego (So., Edina, MN/The Blake School).
Casey Morfeld (Jr., Union City, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) led the Cougars with four shots, while Becer and
Marie Soukup (FY, Lake Bluff, IL/Team Illinois U19) each recorded three. In goal,
Megan Buchanan (So., Ottawa, ONT/Rideau St. Lawrence) notched 25 saves.
Four different players scored for Buffalo State, as Melissa Ash, Courtney Carnes, Tara Boliard, and Jeyna Minnick each found the back of the net.
The two teams will wrap up their weekend series tomorrow, November 11. Game time is set for 2:00pm at the McKnight Hockey Center on the campus of Shady Side Academy.
