PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 9, 2021 - The Chatham Men's Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Grove City College this evening for their second competition of the year. The Cougars faltered to the Wolverines, leaving the pool with 54 points against Grove City's 87.
Reigning PAC Rookie of the Week Karl Gangloff earned his second first-place finish of his collegiate career, finishing with a time of 5:07.91 in the 500 Freestyle. Other notable performances by Gangloff include second places finishes in both the 100 Freestyle (51.38) and 200 Freestyle (1:53.16).
First-year Avery Filey had a strong night, finishing with three second-place finishes. Filey finished the 100 Backstroke at 1:00.14, the 200 Backstroke at 2:15.95, and the 50 Freestyle at 24.85.
Nathan Kerchensky earned himself two second-place finishes as well, finishing the 1000 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke with times of 11:10.11 and 1:09.13 respectively.
First-year Trevor Anderson took on the 200 Backstroke (2:28.01) and Individual Medley (2:22.62), finishing in the top three.
The 200 Freestyle Relay took impressive effort from the Cougars to end the meet. Kerchensky started the Cougars off, coming in at 24.47. Filey and Anderson were the middlemen, finishing with 24.10 and 26.77. Anchor Karl Gangloff solidified the finish with a quick 23.96 to total 1:39.30 for a second-place finish.
The Cougars are slated to compete in their final meet of the regular season on Tuesday, February 16th at Saint Vincent.
